We are deeply honoured to have been featured recently on BBC Look East, where we had the opportunity to share our story, our mission, and—most importantly—Oscar’s legacy.
Little Wings of Hope was born out of unimaginable heartbreak. After the premature birth and loss of our beautiful son Oscar at just 23 weeks, we were faced not only with the pain of grief, but with a profound lack of dedicated support. From that loss came a mission: to ensure that no family ever has to navigate baby loss alone.
Since launching in August 2023, Little Wings of Hope has supported over 50 families across Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Kent, and Cambridgeshire. Every family’s story is different, but one thing unites them all—the need for compassionate, meaningful support when their world suddenly stops.
In the BBC interview, we reflected on Oscar’s short but impactful life, and how those precious hours with him inspired a movement that now reaches families across the region. As Leila shared, "We had that time to make memories, to speak to him, to let him know that he was loved. But we’re mindful that not every family gets that time."
The programme also featured the story of Jasmine and Owen, who tragically lost their son Sonny at 38 weeks. Their courage in sharing their pain, and their healing journey through the support of Little Wings of Hope, was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. Jasmine’s words touched us all: "They describe it as a hole in your heart—over time the hole gets smaller but it never goes away… you'll never forget."
We want to extend our deepest thanks to Sonny’s family for opening up their hearts and their home to share such a raw, emotional story. Your bravery and generosity will help so many others feel less alone. Your support of Little Wings of Hope means the world to us—and to every family we stand beside.
Thanks to an extraordinary sponsored walk up Snowdon, we’ve recently raised nearly £13,000—a life-changing amount that will help us reach even more families. Each donation, each message of support, each shared story helps us keep Oscar’s memory alive while bringing light to those facing their own darkness.
There are still far too many families suffering in silence. As awareness grows, so does the urgent need for services like ours. In the first half of this year alone, we’ve received 35 new inquiries—each one representing a family in need of love, understanding, and community.
We’re so grateful to the BBC for helping amplify our message, and to all of you who continue to walk beside us. Together, we are making a difference.
❤️ In memory of Oscar🪽 In honour of Sonny💛 For every family navigating the heartbreak of baby loss
